Vascular Services at the Heart & Vascular Institute

Peripheral Vascular and Endovascular Surgery

Traditionally, the treatment of diseases that involve the arteries and veins were once performed solely by general surgeons using often antiquated open surgical techniques with high morbidity and mortality.  Today, Stamford hospital’s Heart and Vascular Institute has 5 board certified Vascular/Endovascular surgeons who dedicate 100% of their time to the treatment of vascular disease. Our vascular surgeons have all trained at major University Hospitals throughout the country and are currently able to offer their patients an array of  minimally invasive endovascular procedures.  At Stamford Hospital our surgeons use the latest technology available (The Hybrid Room )to perform such delicate procedures.   “We pride ourselves on having the capability to offer these minimally invasive techniques, but also to know when a more traditional open surgical operation (The Gold Standard) is more suited for an individual patient."

What separates Stamford’s Peripheral vascular program apart from others is our collaboration among the vast number of specialists found within our Heart & Vascular Institute. Here we often utilize the expertise of cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, vascular surgeons, Interventional radiologists and supportive medical staff to optimize each individual patients medical care and needs all In a Planetree environment.
