Family Medicine Residency Program Requirements
The Stamford Hospital/Columbia University Family Medicine Residency Program selects five candidates each year through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) for first year positions.
» Applications are accepted exclusively through ERAS
After a review of completed applications by the residency recruiting committee, qualified applicants are invited for interviews which take place from November through January.
To be invited for an interview, the minimum qualifications listed below must be met. Meeting these requirements is a starting point consideration, however it does not guarantee that an applicant will be invited for an interview.
The applicant must be:
- A student in good standing at, or a graduate of, a United States LCME accredited medical school, or
- A student of graduate or a WHO listed medical school in Canada, Australia, England, Ireland, or Israel; ECFMG certification required, or
- A student in or graduate of an approved Fifth Pathway Program, or
- A graduate of a WHO listed medical school who has completed, or is enrolled in, at least one year of formal residency or medical school rotations (does not include externships, observerships, research, or fellowships) in the United States. This applies to all candidates who have graduated from non-English language based medical schools. This is in addition to ECFMG certification.
