Immunology, Allergy & Asthma Treatment Center

Allergies can be caused by many substances, such as pollens, dust, molds, animal dander, inhaled and contact chemical exposures, foods, insect stings and medications. Reactions can range from a mild rash to anaphylactic shock.

No matter where your allergy or asthma treatment fall in the severity range or what your specific allergy is, you will find highly skilled allergists at Stamford Hospital who can help you, who are experienced in asthma and allergy tests & treatments for the following:

  • Allergic rhinitis (hay fever)
  • Allergic conjunctivitis
  • Asthma
  • Eczema and atopic dermatitis
  • Urticaria, angioedema and other rashes
  • Drug allergy
  • Food allergy
  • Insect allergy
  • Sinusitis, bronchitis and other respiratory tract infections
  • Immunodeficiency
  • Anaphylaxis

Our allergists can perform various testing techniques to determine your allergy triggers. Once these are established, we can perform desensitization for a variety of substances. Techniques include:

  • Skin allergy testing
  • Chemical patch allergy testing
  • Pulmonary function testing to diagnose asthma
  • Allergy shots for desensitization to pollens, dust, mold, animal dander and stinging insects (yellow jackets, wasps, bees and hornets).
  • Emergency desensitization protocols for a variety of medications such as penicillin
  • The new Xolair injection to treat severe asthma
  • Immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapy to treat certain immunodeficiencies

We also treat primary and secondary immunodeficiencies caused by decreases in one or more components of the immune system - for instance, antibody deficiencies, which typically result in an increase in infections.
