Dr. Joseph Connelly Graduates 25th Class of Family Medicine Program Residents
STAMFORD, CT - July 7, 2010With tremendous pride, Dr. Joseph V. Connelly looked upon five residents ready to begin their careers as independent family physicians. The occasion was extra-special for Dr. Connelly, Chair of the Department of Family Medicine and Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program at Stamford Hospital, as this year's class was his 25th to graduate.
Residents in the program receive superior training in Family Medicine, a board certified specialty that attends to the needs of pregnant women, newborns, children, teens, adults and geriatric patients. The curriculum gives residents the knowledge necessary to become skilled, compassionate and independent family physicians through lectures, consultations with specialists, formal reading assignments, discussions with faculty and management of patients.
"Dr. Connelly does a remarkable job balancing his roles as an administrator, clinician and teacher," said Dr. Henry Yoon, Assistant Residency Program Director. "He has been an integral part of the Stamford medical community for over two decades and continues to remain a positive influence on his students."
Dr. Connelly received a bachelor's degree in biology from Boston College and his medical degree from Georgetown University. He completed a fellowship at the Institute for Urban Family Practice at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in New York City and is board certified in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine. Dr. Connelly is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and a Surgeons Clinical Instructor at the University of Connecticut.
