| STAMFORD, CT - January 29, 2010 To raise community awareness for cardiovascular health and motivate women to dance their way to a healthier heart, Stamford Hospital, together with the Fairfield County Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, will host the national "Day of Dance for Cardiovascular Health." This free event will take place on Saturday, February 27, at the Holiday Inn, 700 Main Street in Stamford, from 10:00 a.m. - 3 p.m.
During this fun and educational event, women will learn about the steps that they can take to reduce their chances of getting heart disease. They will enjoy free dance classes taught by instructors from Stamford Hospital's Health and Fitness Center, Stamford Performing Arts Center, Maria Fioras Dance Studio, Darien Arts Center and Fred Astaire Dance Studio - Norwalk. Tai Chi and Yoga classes will also be offered. New this year, a dance competition will allow dance enthusiasts to showcase their talents.
"Day of Dance" will include a special guest speaker Ms. Dana Kinsella who will talk about her daughter's dramatic heart disease experience. Free health screenings, including blood pressure, cholesterol, pulmonary function, diabetes and bone density, will be offered. Women can also schedule a free mammography screening during pre-registration. Additionally, Stamford Hospital physicians will be available throughout the day to answer the participants' questions about heart health. Lunch will be provided.
