| STAMFORD, CT - January 7, 2010 To inspire women to create joy in their lives, Stamford Hospital, together with the YWCA of Greenwich, will feature Bonnie St. John in a lecture and book signing event "Live for Joy" - a Spirit of Women program. The Hospital is collaborating with the YWCA of Greenwich to provide women's leadership programming to communities.
As an amputee, Paralympics silver medalist, Harvard and Oxford graduate and single mom, St. John has faced some of life's toughest challenges. Her new book, Live Your Joy, is a collection of real-life, modern-day stories that reveal the power of joy.
During the program, St. John will share simple tricks and tools she has learned to increase one's daily "joy factor." The event will be held at Stamford Hospital's Tully Health Center, 32 Strawberry Hill Court in the Brace Auditorium on Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
St. John was the first African-American to win Olympic medals in ski racing, bringing home a silver and two bronze medals in the 1984 Paralympics in Innsbruck, Austria. She graduated with honors from Harvard University, won a Rhodes scholarship to Oxford and was appointed to the White House National Economic Council. St. John was interviewed on The Today Show, The Montel Williams Show and Good Morning America, as well as for Oprah's O magazine, People, The New York Times and Essence.
