Stamford Hopsital Offers Seven Mobile Mammography Screening Dates in October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
STAMFORD, CT - September 11, 2009

In recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Stamford Hospital's Mobile Wellness Center will celebrate October's "Paint the Town Pink" campaign by offering seven mobile mammography screening dates throughout Stamford. 

Annually, the Mobile Wellness Center provides about 1,000 screening mammograms for uninsured and under-insured women, thanks to grants from the Breast Cancer Alliance, Inc., Clairol/P&G Hair Care, LLC, the Connecticut Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, and Young Women's League of New Canaan, Inc.

Stamford Hospital's Mobile Wellness Center provides mammography screenings and follow-up services throughout the entire year.  Women are asked to schedule their appointments in advance for the upcoming screening dates:

The hospital's Women's Breast Center at the Tully Health Center provides a full spectrum of screening, diagnosis and treatment for breast care and breast cancer.  In addition, the Darien Imaging Center provides a satellite location where mammograms are available.  Both these sites will be offering additional hours for screening mammograms.  To be eligible for these special scheduling times, women are asked to mention the word "PINK" when making an appointment.  For more information or to schedule an appointment, call (203) 276-7763.

 Paint the Town Pink is a community-wide effort that runs throughout the month of October, National Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Its goal is to raise awareness for breast cancer-related issues such as the importance of screening and early detection, as well as the treatment and services available in this area.  The campaign is sponsored by the Stamford Hospital in conjunction with organizations throughout the communities of Stamford, Darien, New and Canaan.
