Stamford Hospital Physician Named “Teacher of the Year” by Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons
| STAMFORD, CT - June 9, 2009 Stamford Hospital's Dr. Noel Robin has been named "Teacher of the Year" by the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons' Class of 2009. He was selected by the graduating class as the single educator whom they felt influenced them the most across all four years of their education.
Dr. Robin has received numerous honors from the Columbia medical students, including the "Teacher of the Year" award from the Class of 2000 as well as the Charles W. Bohmfalk Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching from the Class of 2006. The class of 2009 also selected Dr. Robin as one of its two Distinguished Educators for the 2007-2008 academic year, citing his caring attitude and skillful teaching in their nominations.
"The "Teacher of the Year" award is an honor that I will forever treasure because teaching to me has always been such a fountain of joy, and has given meaning, purpose, enrichment and depth to my life," said Dr. Robin. "I also accept this award on behalf of Stamford Hospital, an institution deeply committed to the highest ideals of its calling, and where I have had the wonderful joy of association with dearest friends and trusted colleagues."
Dr. Robin is Professor of Clinical Medicine and an Associate Dean at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, of which Stamford Hospital is a major teaching affiliate. A physician for over 40 years, he is Stamford Hospital's Chairman of the Department of Medicine. Dr. Robin has also taught at Harvard University and New York Medical College.
Dr. Robin is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Metabolism. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and has served as a member of the Connecticut Chapter's Governor's Council.
