| STAMFORD, CT - March 9, 2009 Stamford Hospital's annual Hope in Motion Walk, Run & Ride event benefiting the Bennett Cancer Center will be held on Sunday, June 7, National Cancer Survivors Day. The 2009 event will start from Columbus Park in downtown Stamford, a departure from our previous location in Mill River Park while Mill River is under construction. An estimated 4,000 people are expected to participate in the event, which celebrates cancer survivors, reminds us of the fight against cancer, and pays tribute to those who've lost the battle to cancer.
Since 1996, the Hope in Motion - Walk, Run & Ride event has raised funds to support the vital programs and services offered to patients and their families at the Bennett Cancer Center. In 13 years, the event has raised a total of more than $6 million for the cancer center. All of the funds raised through Hope in Motion go directly to support the following programs:
• Clinical trials & cancer research • Exercise and nutrition program • Patient support services • Patient transportation • Integrative medicine • Genetic counseling
