Patient Support Services
At Stamford Hospital, we place great emphasis on treating patients and families as individuals and take pride in providing the best possible medical care with a human touch.
Among the patient services we provide are:
If you need services outside of the hospital upon discharge, the nurse case manager will be responsible for arranging it: home healthcare, medical equipment, home hospice services, and most other services provided in the home or on an outpatient basis, including infusion and outpatient physical therapy. The Department of Case Management is staffed from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. There is an on-call case manager for evenings and weekends, available by dialing “0” in the hospital. If you require care after you are ready to leave the hospital, the physician, case manager or nursing staff will request that you be seen by a social worker. The social worker will assist you and your family members should you require out-of-home post-hospital care, including placement in skilled nursing facilities, acute rehab hospitals, and long-term care nursing homes. The Department of Pastoral Care has a staff of chaplains available at all times to provide for your religious and spiritual needs, as well as the needs of your family, during your stay at Stamford Hospital. Our chaplains offer support in any faith tradition or when there is no faith tradition. A chaplain can help you access the faith resources you want, provide spiritual help, or help you sort out your own thoughts and feelings about what is happening. At your request, we will contact your pastor, priest, rabbi, imam, or faith community to help support you while you are in the hospital. To contact the Department of Pastoral Care inside the hospital, dial 7584. Outside the hospital, call 203.276.7584. Learn more
You have the right to receive care in a safe and supportive environment, free of abuse or harassment. We will work with you to make your stay as comfortable as possible and to support your right to access protective services.
Volunteers play an important part in the daily routine of the hospital by enhancing the services provided by both medical and non-medical departments. Adult and junior volunteers are here to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Volunteers can provide friendly visits, deliver your newspapers, mail and flowers, and much more. Some volunteers speak a second language. The staff of Volunteer Services is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To contact the Volunteer Services Department at Stamford Hospital, dial 7521 inside the hospital. From outside the hospital, call 203.276.7521.
Respiratory therapists are available to provide support and education to all our patients, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To contact the Department of Respiratory Services inside the hospital, dial 7494. From outside the hospital, call 203.276.7494.
