Safety & Quality

At Stamford Hospital, we believe that patient safety and quality go hand in hand, and are committed to continually improving how we care for our patients and their families. Ensuring our patients receive appropriate, safe and effective care is a challenging process that requires the dedication of many people throughout the organization, as well as that of our patients, families and visitors.

To help us both identify areas of success and address areas for improvement, we monitor our performance regularly and distribute our findings to leadership, physicians, nurses and administrators. This information is used as the basis for appropriate, timely decisions, as well as the development of policies and adjustments to daily operations related to patient care.

A common theme across all of our quality improvement efforts is teamwork. Innovative solutions are developed from our staff working collaboratively, where new ideas very often come from those working on the front lines of patient care. Further, to maintain a culture of quality and safety and ongoing improvement at Stamford Hospital, we continually:

  • Train staff in quality and safety practices
  • Monitor safety and performance at multiple levels across departments
  • Use our performance data to prioritize needs and develop programs designed to improve patient care and safety
  • Engage patients, families and all members of the caregiving team in the process of measuring, delivering and improving quality and safety performance
  • Provide information on performance and quality scores to independent reporting groups

Our Organizational & Clinical Effectiveness Group (OCEG) provides support for many of Stamford Hospital’s quality initiatives and works closely with our interdisciplinary Patient Safety & Quality Committee to develop programs designed to ensure patient safety that result in a positive patient experience.

We invite you to review some of our more recent accomplishments highlighting the quality and safety measures driven by our dedicated healthcare teams.
